Soft Tissue Grafting
Soft tissue grafting, also known as gum grafting, is a dental procedure to restore gum tissue, often to address gum recession or to enhance the appearance of the smile. It involves transplanting healthy gum tissue, typically from the palate or another area of the mouth, to areas where the gums have receded or are thin. This procedure can help cover exposed tooth roots, reduce sensitivity, and improve overall oral health.
Connective tissue grafting is a procedure where a piece of subepithelial connective tissue is harvested and then added to the area of recession. This covers exposed tooth roots and/or augments soft tissue volume. The procedure addresses issues like gum sensitivity, increasing gum tissue height, or for improving aesthetics.
