Apicoectomy

An apicoectomy is a minor surgical procedure to remove infection from the tip of a tooth's root (the apex), which often fails to heal after a traditional root canal. Dr Hobbs  accesses the root by lifting the gum, removing the infected tissue and the tip of the root, and then placing a small filling to seal the root and adding a bone graft and Platelet-Rich Fibrin to help the area heal optimally.

Dr. Hobbs was trained to perform Apicoectomy Surgery at the University of California at San Francisco (one of a handful of institutions that train periodontists in this surgical procedure).
