This course will highlight Laser Assisted Surgery in the treatment of Periodontal And Periimplant diseases using Twinlight Lightwalker with the wavelength of Nd:YAG and Er:YAG.
It will be demonstrated how optimal results of dental laser therapy is achieved when two wavelength are included in the treatment protocols.
Laser Assisted surgery provides successful clinical and microbial results for decontamination and debridement of the periodontal pocket.
Furthermore, Er:YAG laser portion have been shown to be effective in smear layer removal and decontamination of the implant without altering the implant surface. This is a key step in the treatment of ailing or failing implants.

- How the Laser Works- Video Presentation of Procedure and live patient demonstration Steps in Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure
- What is the Maintenance Protocol for the patient after Laser Assisted Therapy
- Treatment Protocols to Successfully Treat and More Predictably Address Periimplantitis Including Surface Decontamination and Achieving Regeneration
- Description of Several Other Applications to use the Twin Light Fotona for Extractions, Tori Reduction, Apicoectomy Surgery, Biostem, Treatment of Osteonecrosis
- Addition of Platelet Rich Fibrin to Enhance Healing in Both Laser Assisted Periodontal Surgery as well as Periimplantitis Treatment

Meet Your Instructor Dr. Hana C. Hobbs
Dr. Hobbs is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and has over 20 years of Dental and Periodontal experience.
Undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland in College Park and Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Magna Cum Laude Graduate. Dr. Hobbs completed her General Practice Residency at York Hospital in York, PA and then Chief Resident at Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
Dr. Hobbs attended the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) where she earned her Certificate in Periodontology while simultaneously earning a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology.
Dr. Hobbs received the “Most Innovative” Clinical Research Award from the Western Society of Periodontology based on her Thesis of The link between growth factors and healing in Periodontal Therapy in Diabetics.
Dr. Hobbs and her husband moved to Durham, NC where she began her private practice in Periodontology and Implantology.
She operated a highly successful private periodontal practice in Durham and a second practice in 2020 in Hillsborough, NC. She received her Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in early 2000s
She has been an Assistant Professor at UNC School of Dentistry Periodontology Department.
Dr. Hobbs served as President of the North Carolina Society of Periodontist in 2014.
She is a recognized leader in her field in Laser Periodontal Therapy and is a Speaker for Straumann Dental Implants and Fotona Twin Light Lasers.
In 2015, Dr. Hobbs started the Hobbs Spear Study Club. She very much enjoys the opportunity to interact with great restorative doctors and specialists and has been a member of numerous Study Clubs in the Raleigh /Durham Area. In 2024 She started an ITI study club
Dr. Hobbs also volunteers her dental services regularly for the Baptist Mission Dental Bus and Miriam Dental Clinic and Wake Smiles.
Dr. Hobbs serves on several committees for the American Academy of Periodontology including the Insurance Committee and Continuing Education Committee.
